To answer your first question: SPARQ is an acronym, standing for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness. In conjunction with Nike, the team at SPARQ has been testing athletes across the country to measure these athletic qualities and to create a national matrix against which one can test themselves as an individual and as a team. SPARQ has comprehensive assessment protocols specifically for soccer that are designed to test the skills and unique brand of athleticism relevant to our sport.

With the help of Anthony Riga, one of less than a half dozen certified Nike SPARQ trainers in Nevada, Neusport will be utilizing this testing throughout the season to not only see how our athletes measure up, but to identify areas for improvement and develop exercises and programs to strengthen their overall performance and health. Besides work done within team practice, at SPARQtraining.com, players can learn about, interact with and receive training tips, drills and programs from a broad network of world-class SPARQ Trainers.

As SPARQ’s mission is to help athletes improve in all of those areas through focused, dynamic training, there is no question that this is a good fit with Neusport’s goals as well. The end goal: a more complete athlete – blazing speed, explosive power, fluid agility, innate reaction and jump-start quickness.
