Where are you and what are you doing now?
I am currently finishing an internship in Washington DC where I worked for a lobbying firm and got first-hand experience in politics. I will return to Austin Peay State University in the fall to play my last year of soccer, and finish my degree in Political Science with minors in business, economics, finance, and management.

How long and when did you play for Neusport?
I played for Neusport for three years in high school.

What did you like most about being part of Neusport?
I loved my team. We all got along well and there was nothing like being part of that team. I also had great coaches (Tom and Ed). They really helped me grow as a person and a player. I also enjoyed traveling.

What did being part of Neusport teach you – on and off the field?
Being part of Neusport taught me to have a high work ethic. It is important to have this characteristic in everything a person does; it shows that you care about what you are doing and this reflects both on and off the field. Coaches, professors, and even those at my internship commend me on my work ethic. This was also very helpful in recovering from knee surgery this year.

How did playing for Neusport prepare you for college soccer or further soccer experience?
Playing for Neusport allowed me the opportunity to get to the next level, or in my case college. All of the training and exposure at tournaments gave me the chance to get recruited and also transferred straight into my being able to keep up when I arrived at college. It also allowed me to experience the ups and downs of competition on and off the field. It is great when you win and when you encounter difficulty, you have dig a little harder. This was really important this year since knee surgery kept me out of the fall season and I did the internship instead of participating in spring season. I have to work really hard this summer to step back in.

What’s your favorite Neusport memory?
One of my favorite Neusport memories is the region IV tournament at the end of my senior year of high school, specifically the first game against Idaho. That year the regional tournament was held in Boise and because we were playing the home team the sidelines were packed. My Neusport team ended up winning 1-0 and it was a great game, probably one of the best games we played together as a team and certainly one of the best games I’ve ever had. The sidelines were in a shocked silence. We made quarterfinals. It was an awesome way for us to all go off to college.

Please feel free to share anything else you would like about yourself here:
I would like to say to others to take advantage of every opportunity that arises in college. All these experiences allow you to decide what you really want to do and what is important. Soccer gets you there, but what you do after that is in your own hands.
