2008-2009 Season
As part of our commitment to youth soccer and promotion of the successful student-athlete, at Neusport we make every effort to keep the costs of playing soccer affordable and accessible to everyone. The Neusport Student-Athlete Work Scholarship was created specifically to assist individuals and families with demonstrated economic need to pursue their passion for soccer. Please review the information below and if you are interested in applying for a scholarship, fill out the appropriate form and submit it to the Neusport Scholarship Committee by the listed deadline.

General Application Information

  • Individuals and families can apply for a scholarship.
  • Neusport can award one scholarship per player per season and scholarship may only be applied to that season.
  • Relatives of Neusport employees and the current Scholarship Committee are ineligible.
  • The Neusport Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make approval recommendations based on need and availability of scholarship funds.
  • Scholarships are available for NFC training/player development fees only in an amount up to $863.
  • Remaining fees and expenses remain the responsibility of the player and applicable fees or remaining balance must be paid prior to beginning competition.

Criteria for Applying

  • Must be a member in good standing of Nevada Youth Soccer Association and affiliated Leagues.
  • Academic record must reflect qualities of a good student.
  • Must show serious involvement in the community or school.
  • Scholarships are not guaranteed and potential award amount will be determined by Committee after weighing all applicants’ financial needs.

Non-Discrimination Policy
Neusport does not discriminate on the basis of race, color or ethnic origin in administration of its training, clinic or tournament policies, registration policies, scholarship program or other club administered programs.

Privacy
Every effort is made to protect the privacy of the individual/family applying for financial assistance. Unpon receiving applications, all personal information is removed and the application itself is givenm a code number as it is reviewed. Private information will not be disclosed to third parties without prior written consent of the individual/family who said information relates.

Changes in Scholarship Policies and Procedures
Neusport reserves the right to amend any of the scholarship policies and procedures at any time through action by its Board of Directors and the Neusport Scholarship Committee.

Application Requirements
The following items should be enclosed in a single envelope and submitted to your Team Manager or mailed to the Neusport Clubhouse by the deadline listed:

  • Completed Neusport Scholarship Application signed by player and parent or legal guardian
  • Copy most recent quarter report card or other official representation of academic record
  • Letter of recommendation from a person showing your involvement in the community
    or from a teacher showing involvement in your school.
  • Letter of recommendation from a team coach or club coach
  • Copy of the first two pages of the applicant family’s most recent tax return
  • Essay written by player that is 600 words or less and should address the following points:

• Your future goals.
• Why you believe you should be awarded a scholarship.
• What soccer means to you.
• Any special awards you’ve received

Application Agreement
For all recipients of Neusport scholarships, volunteer work will be required. This may include such help as assistance at
tournaments or tryouts, help at the Neusport Clubhouse, etc. If a scholarship is awarded, we will work with you to schedule
appropriate work and work times for you. Failure to fulfill work agreement may result in player’s card being pulled and
denial of future scholarships.

Scholarships will be announced by August 8th, 2008
